Concept
Trattoria Valbruna
Concept for a trattoria: menu, rooms and reservations – built for guests deciding on their phone.

- 01
Starting point
Guests decide on the move and within minutes. The questions are always the same: what is on the menu, what does it cost, is there a table tonight.
- 02
Goal
Answer those three questions without scrolling – and make reserving a single tap.
- 03
Concept
The menu is the core of the page, not a PDF in a submenu. Above it a shot of the room, below it opening hours and reservations. Everything else is secondary.
- 04
Design
Cream, deep olive and terracotta – colours that come from the kitchen, not from a template. A fine serif keeps it festive without tipping into kitsch.
- 05
Build
The menu is real text on the page so search engines can read it and nobody downloads a PDF. Phone number as a tap target, opening hours marked up for machines.
- 06
Design goal
from landing to calling should take two motions – look and tap.
What was built
- Brand concept and colour world
- Menu as on-page content
- Reservation flow
- Machine-readable opening hours
- Art direction for food and rooms
- Mobile optimisation
Three decisions
Menu, not a PDF
A PDF is unreadable on a phone and invisible to search engines. The menu belongs on the page as text.
Show the prices
Missing prices cost reservations. If people cannot judge the bill, they go elsewhere.
A shot of the room, not just the plate
Guests choose the atmosphere too. A photo of the room answers whether it fits the occasion.
